Working with KPMG created one of our most unique and innovative installations incorporating many new ways of working including meeting points with overhead “umbrella” sound baffling, media:scape lounge for connected, interactive meetings and mobile storage designed for compacted filing whilst creating a visual presence in the office.

After length tender process Style Office was chosen as office furniture suppliers to KPMG who moved from multiple floored premises in St Andrews court to a brand new open plan office on the second floor of 37 Esplanade.

After careful deliberation and showroom visits with client and with the interior designers –Stuart Dryden of Waddington Interiors - Steelcase was selected to supply the majority of the furniture to give a uniform and cohesive look to the office.

FrameOne bench was chosen for all workstations and specially specified with top access to power modules sunk into the desktops as all desks are configured as hot desking with KPMG employees able to “plug and play” on any workstation.

FrameOne corner shaped workstations were used for the Directors who are positioned amongst their teams in the open plan area. In this open plan working environment, floor standing modular screens were designed and supplied by Steelcase to divide these areas and provide a degree of privacy and confidentiality for the Directors’ workstations.

Share It storage was used throughout the office so that the walnut effect finish on the desktops could be matched to all corresponding storage units creating a softer landscape.

KPMG are also the first Jersey company to utilise the unique Media:scape product from Steelcase. Media:scape in an entire range of integrated furniture and media solutions designed to help people connect and collaborate, quickly and seamlessly.  KPMG selected the lounge version of Media:scape with soft seating surrounding the media wall which allows users to link up laptops for information sharing.

The unit is also designed to host high definition video conferencing, enabling distributed teams to view content and each other simultaneously. KPMG have plans to introduce this to their Guernsey offices in due course.

KPMG were also unique in selecting the innovative meeting point, which is standing height storage units with power modules for plug and play, laying out space, doodle pad for creative brain-storming, complete with overhead sound baffling acoustic umbrella to aid concentration and inhibited noise.

Steelcase again supplied the meeting room tables and credenzas this time using the 4.8 range of tables and the Share It range of storage.  This time however walnut veneers have been used to enhance the quality and look for the meeting rooms.  To complement these tables the Boss Kruze chair was chosen as their meeting room chair with leather upholstery and a walnut shell.

Ecospace provided the mobile storage system which included an image (supplied by Jason Laity of KPMG) printed onto the end panels making the large compact storage system a visual feature of the office.

Breakout and reception furniture was supplied by Naughtone using colours from the KPMG pallet to add the personal touches.  All buttons on the Portion sofas used the KPMG blue while the Hush chairs used the blue fabric to highlight the outer shell of the chairs.  The Casper chair from Allermuir was used in the staff canteen with seat pads in different fabric colours to give a bright and fun feel to the area.
